Strengthening the Science of Clinical Research
Nature Medicine is the premier journal within the Nature Research Portfolio for translational and clinical research. To enhance the scientific rigor of the clinical studies it publishes and streamline the review process, Nature Medicine has established a formal Statistical Advisory Panel (SAP).

How the Panel Works
Each SAP member serves a 1-year term with thee possibility for renewal. Each advisor will be responsible for reviewing 6–7 clinical trial manuscripts per year. These reviews may include expedited (“fast track”) reviews at the discretion of the member.
Eligibility Requirements
Statistical Advisors must meet the following criteria:
- ASA Membership: Editors must be current members of the American Statistical Association.
- Experience: A minimum of five years’ experience in medicine and public health science in academia.
Focus Areas
The SAP covers four key therapeutic areas:
Infectious Diseases
Statistical review of clinical trials in infectious disease research.
Metabolic Diseases
Statistical review of clinical trials in metabolic disease research.
Oncology
Statistical review of clinical trials in cancer research.
Neurology & Psychiatry
Statistical review of clinical trials in neurological and psychiatric research.
