14 Renewal of Certification
Certification covers a five-year period after which renewal will be required to maintain certified status.
14.1 Certification Period
Certified status will begin on the date of approval by the DSCC, and this five-year period will end five years from the beginning of the certified member’s next full membership year at the time of certification.
Example: Jane Doe has a membership that is annually renewable on 06/30/25. She is certified on 04/01/25. Her five-year period will end 06/30/30.
Life members’ five-year certification period ends five years from the date of initial certification.
14.2 Renewal Requirements
The ASA may request information from the certified member after the five-year period to indicate that the member is still actively practicing data science.
The DSCC will take into account temporary interruptions to employment including, but not limited to, those for illness and parental leave.
