When the ASA receives a formal complaint against a certified data scientist regarding one or more of the grounds for revocation:
- The individual about whom the complaint was filed shall be notified of the complaint and given the opportunity to respond
- The DSCC will conduct a preliminary investigation and may exonerate the individual based on this investigation
- If further consideration is needed, the ASA Board of Directors, after seeking legal advice, will decide whether the individual should be exonerated, receive advice or warning regarding specified violations, or have their certification revoked
- The board will notify the individual of its decision within 14 days of its decision
16.3 Consequences of Revocation
Revocation of certification results in:
- Removal of the individual’s name from the list of certified members (see Section 18.1)
- Loss of certification fees
- No other public report of such action
16.4 Appeal of Revocation
An individual whose certification has been revoked may appeal through written notice to the executive director of the ASA within 30 days of receipt of notification of revocation. The ASA Board of Directors Executive Committee will review the individual’s appeal and will determine whether the revocation should be upheld or overturned.
